Gears of War Weapons Guide

Here is a quick overview of the Gears of War weapons.

Snub Pistol
*You usually will not want to use the Snub Pistol. It is pretty weak and has long reload times. The only advantage to this weapon is zoom feature of the pistol. With the zoom feature you can more easily hit your enemies head which does good damage.

Boltok Pistol
*The Boltok Pistol is a bit better than the Snub Pistol due to its added firepower. This weapon, however, does not have a large clip so you need to make every shot count.

Hammerburst
*This is a pretty solid weapon overall. It fires in bursts, so make sure each burst is lined up before firing. In my opinion, I believe this gun is a bit better than the lancer

Lancer
*This is another solid weapon that is pretty much the primary weapon in the game. My advice is to not overuse the chainsaw.

Gnasher
*This is good weapon at close range, but it is pretty bad at medium to long ranges. I would only suggest using this gun if you plan on a lot of close quarter battles. Otherwise, I would recommend trying to use the Lancer or Hammerburst.

LongShot
*This is a sniper rifle that doesn't deal a lot of damage. If you can hit heads with it, it can be very useful. However, I would not recommend this rifle if you have another choice.

Hammer of Dawn
*This is a pretty powerful, but slow weapon. Use this when you are in a safe spot and you know the general direction of your enemy. Avoid using this weapon in close range fire fights.

BoomShot
*Good weapon but make sure to pinpoint your shots since it does not have much of a blast radius.

Torque Bow
*This is a very powerful weapon, but it is extremely difficult to aim with it. I would use a rifle over this weapon.

Frag Grenade
*The frag grenade has a very small blast radius, but can be very useful with the tag feature of the weapon. If you to tag an enemy, make sure to get out of the way before it blows up.

Smoke Grenade
*These can be useful to cover your movement and to confuse your enemy.
